A young woman’s determination to learn, lead, and inspire her community
Greetings, everyone.
Today we welcome a very special guest—Teresa, also known as Telma. Her story is one of perseverance, talent, and unwavering dedication. Teresa joined our program as a young teenager, and now at 18, she returns to share a chapter of her life filled with hope and progress.
Despite facing many challenges within her family, Teresa has refused to abandon her dreams. She continues to pursue her studies with determination and is now on the verge of completing secondary school.
With passion and purpose, she is studying medicine and has already begun her practical internship at the local hospital. There, she assists adult patients, offering help, comfort, and care—an experience that fills her with pride and excitement for the future.
Throughout the years, Teresa has been an active participant in numerous programs. From her early involvement up until 2023 at the 4th anniversary of the Africa Educates Her campaign, she has used her voice and talents to inspire others.
Her contributions include performances in Corona Voice, where she sang alongside her sisters, and participation in initiatives such as AI for Ending Child Marriage and Teen Pregnancy, Ladies Without Plastic, and many more.
As her visit concluded, Teresa left with a free pack of reusable menstrual pads—one for herself and one for her sister—ensuring they both have access to basic, dignified menstrual care.
Teresa’s journey is a reminder that determination can overcome adversity, and that every girl, when given the opportunity, can uplift not only herself but her entire community.
