SDG5: "Luso-Hispanic Women Engineers". What happened on the International Day of Women in Engineering? An article by Sofonie Dala

Welcome everyone to our platform! We are pleased to share a piece of what happened on International Women in Engineering Day.
International Women in Engineering Day takes place annually aiming to spread awareness and nurture an engineering culture where women's contributions are valued as equally as their male counterparts.
Our purpose is to encourage women's growth within the engineering sector
Marking the International Day of women in Engineering, The Order of Engineers of Portugal organized, on June 23, an international digital conference dedicated to the analysis of the representativeness of women in the profession, the accreditation process of gender equality and the preparation of 2024 as the International Year of gender equality in engineering.
The digital entrepreneur Sofonie Dala is a mining engineer, she has a master's degree in oil and Gas Geology.
She also participated in the event where she had the opportunity to talk about her multiplus projects that aim to empower women and girls living below poverty line, especially in the education sector where it requires more reinforcements, as a result of an idea she had when attending the Third Youth Capacity Building Workshop on girls'education in Africa, promoted by the African Union International Centre for Girls and Women Education in Africa (AU/CIEFFA) in 2019 Accra, Ghana.
In 2020 the hybrid platform "She Leads Angola" was launched to address the impacts and damage that covid-19 has caused on girls ' education, as well as find solutions to current challenges.
Sofonie Dala is not only the founder of the Startup Multi Talents, she is also a multi-skilled expert that has mastered and developed a large series of projects and campaigns covering about 10 of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, with successful assignments in Angola.
She is an inspiring, influential person raising global awareness of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the need for accelerated action. She uses her unique global platforms to raise ambition around the SDGs and reach the most vulnerable first.

In just 2 years she reached a large audience and became the subject of significant media attention. Lately, her outstanding digital platform has been reaching the list of top finalists in the international competitions.
The event took place on June 23 and was opened and chaired by engineer Fernando Almeida Santos, president of the Portuguese Order of Engineers and Lídia Santiago, VP of the Portuguese Order of Engineers. It also had the special participation of Patricia Franganito who spoke about the accreditation of gender equality.
There was also an intervention by the Board of the "Luso-Hispanic Engineers" group of the commitment to partnerships (SDG 17), to be carried out in the framework of the preparation of 2024 as the International Year of gender equality in engineering. This cosmopolitan meeting was attended by several women engineers from countries such as Portugal, Angola, Mozambique, Brazil, Bolivia and others.

Promote the capture of girls for Engineering. Fighting girls' school dropout.
Subject: Commitment of Partnerships (SDG 17) to be made among engineers with each country to prepare 2024- International Year of Gender Equality in Engineering (as a means to reach SDG 5- Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls).
The science of engineering touches almost every facet of how we live today. Today, we live more convenient and less strenuous lives, from our transport systems to smart homes, phones, and everything in between.
